how to consign

The Cozy Home, quality consigned furnishings How Our Consignment Works

Each Consignor is asked to sign a free 3-month consignment contract. The general terms are fifty percent (50%) of the sale price goes to the consignor.

The Cozy Home accepts consignments on Tuesdays only (until further notice) during normal business hours. Our staff determines what items we will take on the spot.

We write checks to Consignors for all items sold in each calendar month on the 10th day of the following month (e.g., items sold March 1st -31st will be paid on April 10th). Consignors can pick up their checks at the store on or after the 10th. Checks are not mailed. You may provide us with a self addressed stamped envelope if you wish to have us mail your check.

Consignors may monitor their accounts and inventory on-line via our website at: www.myresaleweb.com, using your last name and consignor number for access.

We accept up to 25 items per Consignor per month and all items must have a market value of at least $10. Your items do not become the property of The Cozy Home after 3 months. If you have several items you plan on picking up, please call our staff prior to your arrival so that we can gather your items and have them ready for you.

You may pick up your items before the 3-month consignment period is up, however, there is a 25% fee based on the original resale price. Once you have decided to retract your item, you have one day to arrange for pick up. Items will remain on the floor, available for sale, until you have arrived to pick them up.

Guidelines

  • All items must be CLEAN, odor free, in good condition, and currently in style. Any items with missing parts, chipped, cracked or broken condition will not be accepted. We may not accept items that have been housed in a smoking or pet environment. We reserve the right to refuse any item due to condition, current inventory levels or past experience. If you are unsure your item is acceptable, you may e-mail pictures and descriptions to: for our review.
  • Large furniture must be pre-approved by our staff prior to arrival. Please bring in or e-mail a digital photo of furniture items for review and to have your piece(s) added to the schedule. Our e-mail address is:
  • Many things do not reveal themselves in photographs. We must physically see the item in order to arrive at an accurate price. There are several factors that determine the resale price: general condition, construction, age, patina, repairs, manufacturer, general consumer demand, etc. Items that are misrepresented via photo may be rejected at time of scheduled drop off.
  • Our staff determines the retail price on all consigned merchandise. It is in everyone's interest for items to be priced at a fair market value that would allow them to realistically sell within the first 30 days of the consignment period. We will do markdowns as we deem appropriate. Our guidelines are to reduce the price after each 30-day interval.
  • Please bring along help to unload or load your items. If you will need help with larger pieces on arrival, please call The Cozy Home ahead of time to make sure we are aware and able to help.
